POCs, Superheroes and Great Times Ahead

Between the weather, the vaccine optimism and the hope we all feel, it’s hard to be anything other than cheerful these days. I’m conscious that some of you reading this are still in the thick of it and that it’s precarious for everyone, but we also all feel it in our bones that some semblance of normal and happiness must -at long last- be on its way.

I’m speaking at the DevOpsEnterpriseSummit y’all and I couldn’t be more excited! It takes place (still virtually this time around) a few days after my book is out too, but the talk won’t be a mere “here’s what you can read where and why” sort of promotional gig but instead a revamped version of the speech we’ve done for DOES Vegas last year speaking chiefly about the good and bad behaviours of Psychological Safety with a focus on Impression Management and what we can do to avoid it. Grab your tickets here if you haven’t already.

I wrote about how magical it is several times and if you wanted to read about the extreme enthusiasm you can find them here, here and here but if you “go” nowhere else this year this is totally it and it will indeed feel like you were going even though it is virtual. And who knows, as of next year you can maybe hug these DevOps heroes too!

For the next one, I’ll see if the DOES committee and Gene Kim himself would consider letting me do a more theoretical talk on HumanDebt™ only, but if they didn’t, I couldn’t blame them, more navel-gazing is the last thing we all need spot-on as it may be.

Prepare to read about a lot of my gushing, going to DOES is like a breath of air while being eternally submerged and the relief of meeting likeminded people who have their Agile hearts in the right place and their minds sharpened and optimised to draw on the oodles of courage that it takes to be doing battle every day, is palpable.
