An Open Letter to All of us into Tech and Humanity Thriving

An Open Letter to All of us into Tech and Humanity Thriving
Editorial collage supplied by the author; includes AI-generated elements.

To my regular readers: I know I promised my next article to be "For my sanity, I choose to believe this is/isn't AI" and I was also happily head-down in Human-AI Execution Pods changing the world on their own lanes, when this moment of inflection came and I can't not do my part. After replaying the Asimov Memorial Debate 2026 to remind myself of why I had gotten up in arms the first time I saw it, I spent the last however-long writing this Open Letter instead (AND FOR THE RECORD THIS IS SENT AGAINST THE ADVICE OF ALL MY AI POD PARTNERS AND EVEN SOME OF MY HUMAN ONES)— All of them specifically red marked the inflammatory bits, including my saying that this is entirely un-fact-checked-and-opinion-based-for-entertainment-only-while-I-am-not-suicidal-and-I-am-aware-many-existing-initiatives-were-skipped—because we have an emergency and because it's not like me and authentic to engineer this piece, this is imperfect, human and from the heart.

Hey y'all,

We are being stupid now. There's HumanDebt at an organisational or even societal level and then there's oddles of more TechDebt being inbued in the DNA of our fabric by the day but above all those, there's "End Of Times Tech and Human Debt in the Execution Debt we created in our AI experiment" and that is far bigger and uglier of an all-encompassing monster that will create the Unrest and Chaos Era the 3i Problem warned us about. And we are hurling towards it if we won't course-correct.

This is not a silly thing we can leave to the silly game of politics or mass media or to the blame and innertia cultures we've allowed.

This is bigger than this moment.

This needs everyone.

It's either the bridge to a better world or the wild wild west of AI slop and insecurity we are plunging our children in.

There has GOT to be a way in which we rethink what all everyone has in their pockets, their brains, their hearts (and their egos!) and place all bets on white - that humanity wins, that AI ends up being a partner of growth and can never be anything other, and that we took the one opportunity that science and technology afforded us in our life time to turn the leaf for humanity.

Let's face it, becoming a better version of ourselves was long-overdue but the incentive to collectively do so -and in one step- is only now existential threat - we can all hold on to our Monopoly bitcoins and plan for bunkers, or we can bust the barriers that are holding us back by rethinking it all.

A full humanity Kick-Off, everyone with a buck and a brain sits down and we ask every human with digital access for a vote too, (super easy to Mythos-level-hackathon in a weekend let's face it), and then we set up to implement whatever epic we collectvely chose such as, dunno say "Create a new world where values protect and enhance humanity and no one suffers" off the top of my mind or some kernel like that -maybe less lame and cringe- that we ALL believe in.

Come on now, most of us reading this are the Palantir-dude-named neurodivergent crowd, we SEE the pattern, we FEEL the weight of injustices, but we also DO have the power to change it if we work out a way to get together and do so before the moment passes.

Look, for my part  all of my folks were autistic so - I have a long and complicated ancestral relationship with fairness and the way various regimes have applied it to their humans and I have been blessed with a great-great father who once famously sued his own employer - the Romanian state, he was a judge- when he saw them do wrong, and I then got to hear the many generations' interpretations of that fight and how it powered his own son to give up everything when the ideas he was fighting for as a young doctor building health systems for the post-war Romania were perverted into the corruption of the emerging dictatorship and then, finally, despite avoiding my turn by avoiding politics, I ended up facing what's rotten in yesterday's communism, and today's capitalism and self-declared socialism in the US, Sweden, UK and  Europe and eventually becoming the most unwilling activist you'll ever meet by virtue of the systems ' collapsing their veneer of the wokeness that the Valley, Shoreditch and Brussels want to pretend stil exists. All this stream of consciousness paragraph is only here to say - I'm one of the idiots with principles who never really got to live the Capitalism dream so no, I can't really relate when I ask you Bill Gates to put all your remaining uncommitted funds into this or you Soros Foundation or the Open one to step over projects and annual KPIs and pay good and focused attention.

There has GOT to be a way we can come together in the "civilised" and "English speaking" or even "western world" (if the formulation helps with ego massages), where we put the petty differernces of the conventions we chose to play by, aside and action on the still plausible happy ending that the rushed Netflix AI Doc tries with the "Apocalyptoptimst" play. Because yes, there (still) is a non-zero chance AI will cure all evil and then stop and then change the rules of being truly human for us by freeing us to create and exist and focus on the things we will retain as exclusively human.

But waking up and taking agency has to happen now.

And agency will not be making another movie. Or writing another article. Or proposing a fake stop to the presidents so we look better to our shareholders.

What was the plan there, gents? How were you making the Chinese and the Russians stop too? And those are just your "civilised" and "declared" opponents in this, make no mistake about it. And you are not making any. We all know this to be true.

When "There's a joke in the Valley that when somebody leaves a Tech company they say "thanks, this has been great, I am going on to bigger and better things" but when they live an AI company they say "this wasn't good, I am retiring to write poetry and hug my children" moves from being an extraordinary visual in a panel by Nate Soares to pop culture on TikTok, and the obscure wistleblowers of some Slack or Reddit fame are now interviewed on the mainstream media - this is the eye of the storm, gents.

And I say "gents" because of course AI has a female ration problem. What tech doesn't? Hell, what medical tests for menopause didn't until recently, hey? But that general eye-roll is not good enough. This thing was built overwhelmingly by men. And this isn't to slight Ms Amodei or the Godmother of AI, the legions of great coders and new-age-coders and all the exceptional minds working on solutions today out there, but let's be honest ladies, as ever, we came in later and we have none of the exec and coin levers the boys do at the AI table. Except in our case the lack of X chromosomes is not just a semi-misogynistic and inconsequential shoulder shrug as ever in technology so far. Why? Let's just say I believe Sir Geoffrey when he says this will kill us unless we fundamentally inbue it with enough motherly instict so in a sad and warped way it would be our tech-devoid-of-females-and-feelings that would be the end of us, and our teams at my appropriately named 10 years ago People Not Tech often ask why we don't do more and why we are not working harder on the motherly instinct because yes, if we manage to miss that fundamental of a trick and that is what Skynets us then how utterly dumb of us as techies). Anyhow I digress...  Unity.

How the hell do we make that happen across employed and unemployed, rich and not so, have AGI and not-yet's, the academics, the public, the press, the overlay of political plays and egos and all the other noise (most of which we are culpable for in the Tech arena now for having jumped into this thing before anticipating common sense stuff like the biased murderous behaviours and the vast amount of AI slop we will drown in).

Had I been on this Asimov panel (go watch it if anyone reading this has not - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eYUYdpG4UT8 and remember it's now half a year old and much more tragedies followed) with the overly-chill "I can assure you shareholder's interest is irrelevant when all people are dead" Eric S who built it all for us in so many ways indeed, I would have respectfully asked him why these two precise outcomes were not "testable" and how are they "fixable".

Okay look - no one takes their coin to the grave and bitcoin isn't going to cover much in the way of either Akashik records credits or ways to protect our remaining loved ones once we've missed our physical chance.

Are we going to march ourselves into mutual destruction or stop and think together?

It's not even difficult: we have the digital means to ask everyone what values we believe in, a good prompt to execute it all with integrity, and to keep us all in the loop and AI-supported (not "augmented" please:), making a better future.

This just needs an impartial Scrum master and laying out some to-do's once we find a global agreement way.

Who's in charge here of anything?!? Let's Jackie Weiver this thing and give humans the authority they deserve to choose the future they deserve now that us in tech are finishing our jobs and handing them over to the machines we made for the rest of the humans.

Not to be a Karen but is it NATO? Not the EU... (sadly!) The UN? WHO?

Yes, Who?!?! There has got to be one forum where we as humans can even claim we are looking at a global agreement regarding "us humans" and "it tech" and this forum has to help us step into the only future that is not accidental and statistically self-destructive.

I call for a list of signatures of anyone that agrees that we have to organise a global digital push at ethical level to meet this most of monumental challenges we are faced with today.

A new global sprint where we define the common epic, agree on process and railways, intelligently push research and rethink our societal and monetary blueprints at New Human-AI Constitution level, and then move it to Done cleanly and with so much winning that our post-effort Retro is a few good years for us reading this, and a few good generations of "Quiet Times" ahead with a preserved planet and a better human experience.

I choose to believe for my sanity that this is not AI, and we can make it happen - Is it going to be 1, 2 or 3, humans?

Here's the Poll of all Polls:

1. "Yes I believe we urgently need a new Global Human-AI Constitution and Execution Sprint" - This form records your signature and public comments if you choose to add one and contains a daily ticker API feed for the press (email press@eaeaei.com if you haven't received your invite) to see who else has joined the New Human-AI Global Constitution cause.

2. "No, this is BS and this is why I disagree" - allows you to post your point of view as long as you're happy to use a public (LinkedIn etc) OICD to post it

3. "Choose to refrain, leave my cognitive dissociation alone, this is a tech fad/bubble/not happening/same old/irrelevant before I die/non-applicable to me and my immortality plan and I care about myself only" - need not click anywhere but feel free to block me as I won't shut up about this and I want none of your Karma

Also as a matter of next housekeeping - someone impartial enough (United Nations? Davos? NEW PROPER GLOBAL INITIATIVE?!?) should provide a forum we trust (some peer-to-peer open source community gurus can help the current talks in Ryiad, San Fran and Beijing!) - as wherever you're reading this, it ain't it:)- so we participate and send concrete proposals alongside the bag of good-will signatures and points of view this Open Letter is collecting to whoever the Adults in the world are that can make things happen quickly. This is not the same game by the same rules and we cannot afford the ridiculous organisational inertia of having any Business Prevention Department other than our collective consciousness, "gents," ladies, and Othered.

Most of us have kids who need us not to let this fail.
